ISO/TS 16949 – Automotive Quality Management Systems Certification

ISO/TS 16949:2009 is a standard for Quality Management Systems of automotive industry, which defines the quality management system requirements for the design and development, production and, when relevant, installation and service of automotive related products. ISO/TS 16949 contains recommended automotive industry best practices and examples.

ISO/TS 16949 certification (also known as “registration”) is a third-party audit performed by a certification body such as PECB who, upon verification that an organization is in compliance with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949, will issue an ISO/TS 16949 certificate. This certification is then maintained through regularly scheduled annual surveillance audits by the registrar, with re-certification of the Automotive Quality Management System performed on a tri-annual basis.
